I like to see the role of a designer as a bridge between technology and people.

By transforming complex technology into functional, delightful, and visually pleasing products, I want to enhance people’s lives and even bring them a bit of joy. For example, creating a mobile app that sparks engaging conversations (like Vrank).

During my time at the electric car company Polestar, I was able to do so by collaborating with the design system team and developing reusable components that can be combined to create various digital applications.

This requires the ability to switch between zooming in on the design details and zooming out to improve processes, governance, and the company culture.

Looking back at the past 20 years, I have worked in the world of (digital) design and have experienced the rapid changes that come with it. Suddenly, phone screens became touch-enabled, and other paradigm shifts emerged and as a designer I adapt to these changes.

As Art Director at TomTom I designed the user interface for a fitness watch with a 3-bit screen. Which means making something meaningful for athletes on a tiny surface with a palette of just 8 colors. That was quite a challenge.

In my spare time, I am doing a bunch of CrossFit, reading existential philosophy, playing tunes on the guitar, and hiking with my wife and two kids. But my phone will probably be set on mute :)

I would love to help you with delightful brand concepts, creative thinking and product design.

Feel free to reach out for a good conversation and a flat white coffee.
